Program Description

Event Details

Discover the wonders of hummingbirds, the only birds that can fly backwards. Learn about rufous hummingbirds, who migrate up to 4,000 miles a year, completely alone. Find out what makes hummingbirds' respiratory system unique and why it is essential to the success of these amazing birds. Prepare to be wowed by this fun, photo-filled presentation.

Presented by scientist and storyteller Bob Lewis, winner of the American Birding Association's Chandler Robbins Award for excellence in teaching. His life list includes more than 5,500 birds, and he has a story for each of them.

This program is part of Hayward Public Library's Bay Area Birding series. The next presentation will be September 13, Evolution of Songbirds.

Sponsored by Friends of Hayward Library.
