About half the world's birds are songbirds. Hear the amazing story of how they evolved from a common ancestor into roughly 4,000 species, from the chickadee to the carrion crow. It's a journey that begins in Australia 24 million years ago and leads all over the world today.
Presented by scientist and storyteller Bob Lewis, winner of the American Birding Association's Chandler Robbins Award for excellence in teaching. His life list includes more than 5,000 birds, and he has a story for each of them.
This program is part of Hayward Public Library's Bay Area Birding series. The next presentation will be November 22, Backyard Birding.
Sponsored by Friends of Hayward Library.
