Event Details

You or someone you love may be paying too much for transportation. Local residents with at least 70 years of age and adults with certified disabilities can receive discounted, curb-to-curb rides through Hayward Operated Paratransit, or HOP. 

HOP offers a wide range of flexible services, including fully independent rides, mobility assistance, wheelchair lifts, and reduced-rate Uber rides that can be ordered as little as 30 minutes in advance. Participants with verified low incomes may ride for free. 

HOP is available to qualified residents of Hayward, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Unincorporated San Leandro, Ashland or Cherryland. Learn how to apply for the program and make the most of it. 

At this event, Community Programs Specialist Kim Coulthurst will explain the HOP program, take questions, and help with applications. She will also bring extra applications that attendees can share with their networks.

Legal and Health Insights is a series of informative programs for older adults. Programs usually take place at 2 pm on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Please note that this event begins a half hour later than usual (2:30 pm).
