Oktoberfest: A Celebration of Bavarian Tradition. A program for all ages!
Oktoberfest is the world's largest folk festival, known for its beer festival and traveling carnival. Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, from mid- or late-September to the first Sunday in October, it attracts over six million visitors from around the world.
Join us for an authentic Bavarian folk dance performance by Stephen and Nancy. They will be showcasing traditional dances such as Reit im Winkl and Boehmerwalder (Bohemian Forest), with music and dance rooted in the Chiemgau region of Upper Bavaria and the Alps. During the performance, they will also teach the audience some basic German dance steps. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids/parents and everyone to experience Bavarian culture and enjoy a fun-filled time together!
Since 1856, San Francisco’s German Club Dance Group has provided diverse cultural activities and world-renowned dance performances. Recently, in September, the group gathered for gemütlichkeit, dancing, and fun at the Rathaus in Fort Mason, San Francisco. Stephen Joseph is a professional Schuhplattler and a lead dancer in the group. Nancy Evelyn, a Mills College graduate, holds a B.A. in Dance and an M.A. in English and American Literature.
While the Schuhplattler is still largely performed by adults, it has become increasingly popular with youngsters, who love its colorful costumes and its bouncing, leaping, kicking, and choreographed horseplay.

Das Oktoberfest ist das größte Volksfest der Welt, bekannt für sein Bierfest und seinen reisenden Jahrmarkt. Es findet jedes Jahr in München, Bayern, von Mitte oder Ende September bis zum ersten Sonntag im Oktober statt und zieht über sechs Millionen Besucher aus aller Welt an.
Begleiten Sie uns zu einer authentischen bayerischen Volkstanzaufführung von Stephen und Nancy. Sie werden traditionelle Tänze wie Reit im Winkl und Böhmerwaldler (Böhmischer Wald) präsentieren, begleitet von Musik und Tänzen aus der Region Chiemgau in Oberbayern und den Alpen. Während der Aufführung werden sie dem Publikum auch einige grundlegende deutsche Tanzschritte beibringen. Dies ist eine großartige Gelegenheit für Kinder, Eltern und alle, die bayerische Kultur zu erleben und gemeinsam eine unterhaltsame Zeit zu verbringen!
