Program Description

Event Details

Each year, over 1 million shorebirds spend time at the San Francisco Bay, with many using its marine buffet to fuel their migrations. Get to know the shorebirds that call the bay home for part of the year and learn why many migrate to other areas to nest. Find out how scientists learn about migration, and how this knowledge impacts conservation strategies.

Your guide: scientist and storyteller Bob Lewis, who won the American Birding Association's Chandler Robbins Award for teaching. His life list includes more than 5,000 birds, and he has a story for each of them.
